Feature Guide

Step 1: Install the TODA Live Avid Media Composer Plugin

  1. Visit the TODA Live downloads page, https://lmmv.com/downloads.

  1. Navigate to the TODA Live Avid Media Composer Plug-in section, and download the package for macOS or Windows.

NOTE: Ensure that Avid Media Composer is closed. If left open, you will be required to restart the installation process.

  • The plugin will automatically begin downloading.

  1. After downloading, open your device’s Downloads folder and run the Installer.

  1. Navigate through the prompts until the TODA Live Transmitter Plugin is successfully installed.

Step 2: Add the TODA Live Transmitter Panel to Your Avid Media Composer Project

  1. Open or create a new Avid Media Composer project.

  1. From your project timeline, right-click on the HW/SW button.

  • A dropdown menu will appear.

  1. Hover over TODA Transmitter, and click Select.

  1. Click on the HW/SW button again, to activate the TODA Transmitter.

  • Once the HW/SW button is activated, it will turn red.

  1. Next, to open the TODA Live Panel, right click on HW/SW.

  1. Hover TODA transmitter and click Configure.
  • A TODA Live Panel will appear.

  1. In the Panel, enter the email address linked to your TODA Live account.

  1. To enter a custom TODA Environment URL, click Advanced Options

NOTE: TODA Environments are custom spaces with specific URLs, created for your business or team and can be crafted to suit your unique needs. Ex. yourenvironment.todalive.com

  • A list of rooms available within your TODA Live environment will then be displayed.

Step 3: Share Stream to Your TODA Live Room

  1. Locate the TODA Live room where you will be streaming to and click Connect.

  1. Here, you can adjust your feed through the Settings tab.

NOTE: You will need to be a Host to modify streaming settings, such as Video Resolution, Frame Rate and Bitrate. While default settings will achieve high-quality streaming, Advanced options are available for further customization.

Additionally, streaming settings cannot be changed during an active session.

To update settings:

1. Stop the stream.
*The stream will automatically be removed from your TODA Live room.

2. Adjust the settings.

3. Restart the stream.

  1. Next, click the Input tab.
  • By default, you will find options for Playback and Full screen. Also, when streaming, only audio from one stream can be shared.

  1. Select the contents and audio you want to share.

*Selecting the Playback Input streams the window you’re actively editing in, whether it’s the Record Monitor or Source Monitor. Switching windows during the stream updates the view in the TODA Live room in real time.

TODA TIP: To share specific Avid Panels, follow these simple steps:

1. Find the Panel you’d like to share and click on the Panel name.

2. Select Float this Panel.

3. From the Input tab, click the Refresh button, and the Panel will then appear as an available input option.

  1. Once your inputs have been selected, click Start to share the feed directly to your TODA Live room.

  • From your TODA Live room, a live stream will be presented and additional features will be accessible through the Media Tab of the Host Control Panel (HCP).

  1. Lastly, use the Preview tab to monitor your feed.

Now, you can easily view your Avid Media Composer project directly in your TODA room and engage in edit-over-the-shoulder sessions!

Known Limitations: Avid Media Composer Plugin

  • Renaming a Room: Participants that are not Host’s have the ability to change the room name. However, these changes will not be permanently saved.
  • RTSP Bitrate Options: When selecting Constant (CBR) or Variable (VBR) in the Bitrate type on RTSP protocol, you may experience occasional audio disruptions.
  • Resizing Streams
    • macOS: Adjusting the size of a streaming window on macOS may cause the stream to stop. However, it can easily be restarted without any complications.
    • Windows: Resizing a streaming window does not automatically update the stream resolution. This may result in cropping or afterimages.
  • Video Quality: Due to AVID restrictions, only full video quality is available at this time.
  • Playback: Selecting from playback options or seeking through media may result in audio disruptions.
  • Audio:
    • Switching to an audio track with a different sample rate while a stream is running, may lead to audio disruptions.
    • For a consistent, high-fidelity audio experience with the TODA Live plugin, we recommend using a wired headset and microphone, as Bluetooth headsets may affect audio quality. When the microphone is active, Bluetooth headsets often switch to mono (instead of stereo) and reduce the sample rate to around 16 or 24 kHz—below professional standards and potentially introducing noticeable artifacts. For optimal performance, audio output with a sample rate of 44.1 kHz or higher is recommended. However, using a Bluetooth headset for audio output with a separate microphone is also a suitable option.
