What is a Tile?

Modified on Mon, 20 Apr at 5:35 AM

A tile is the video panel that represents each participant in the room. Every person in an active session has their own tile in the room view.

Each tile typically displays the participant's name, title, and current audio status. The tile arrangement — how many tiles are visible, their size, and spacing — is controlled through the Appearance tab by the host.

ℹ️
Tile settings: The host can adjust tile spacing and aspect ratio for all participants from the Appearance tab. These settings apply room-wide and are not visible to individual participants to change unless the host enables "Allow Participants to Control Their Own Layout."

The Tile Menu

Each tile has a Tile Menu that gives you quick access to actions for that participant. How you open it and what options you see depends on your role.

Opening the Tile Menu

Hover over any participant's tile to reveal the Tile Menu, located in the bottom right corner of the tile.

Available options by role

All participants can access Fullscreen and Private Chat from any tile. Mirror Video is only available on your own tile. Remove, Make Co-Host, and Make Participant are only available to hosts and co-hosts.

Mirror Video

Mirror Video
Your tile only

Flip your own video feed horizontally so it appears mirrored on your screen. This affects how other participants see your video.

1
Hover over your own tile

The Tile Menu appears in the bottom right corner of your tile.

2
Select Mirror Video

Your video feed flips horizontally. Click Mirror Video again at any time to toggle it back.

ℹ️
Mirror Video is only available on your own tile. It does not appear in the Tile Menu of other participants' tiles.

Fullscreen

Fullscreen
All roles

Expand a single participant's tile to fill your entire screen. This is a personal view — it only affects what you see and has no impact on any other participant's view.

1
Hover over the participant's tile

The Tile Menu appears in the bottom right corner.

2
Select Fullscreen

The participant's tile expands to fill your screen.

3
To exit, open the Tile Menu and select Exit Fullscreen

The room view returns to its previous layout.

Private Chat

Private Chat
All roles

Send a direct, private message to a participant during the session. Private chat messages are only visible to you and the recipient — no other participants can see them.

1
Hover over the participant's tile

The Tile Menu appears in the bottom right corner.

2
Select Private Chat

A private chat panel opens on the right side of your screen, addressed to that participant.

3
Type your message and send

The message is delivered privately. Only you and the recipient can see the conversation.

Remove

Remove
Host & Co-Host only

Remove a participant from the session. This ends their active participation immediately — their tile is removed and they can no longer contribute to the room. Use this to address disruptions, technical issues, or guideline violations.

1
Hover over the participant's tile

The Tile Menu appears in the bottom right corner.

2
Select Remove

A confirmation prompt appears asking you to cancel or confirm the removal.

3
Confirm the removal

The participant is removed from the session. Their tile is taken down immediately.

⚠️
After being removed, the participant receives a notification informing them they have been removed. To rejoin, they will need to request a new invitation from the host.

Make Co-Host

Make Co-Host
Host only

Promote a participant to co-host, granting them elevated room privileges for the session. Co-hosts can manage participants, control recording, manage media, and configure streaming and appearance settings.

1
Hover over the participant's tile

The Tile Menu appears in the bottom right corner.

2
Select Make Co-Host

A confirmation prompt appears. Select Yes to proceed.

3
The participant is promoted

Their role updates immediately. The Co-Host label appears below their name in the Participants panel and on their tile.

ℹ️
Coresee account required. Only participants with a Coresee account can be promoted to co-host. Guests — participants who joined without an account — are not eligible for this role.
ℹ️
To demote a co-host, open the Tile Menu on their tile and select Make Participant. This reverts them to standard participant access immediately.
