Overview

Take the virtual reins with the Remote Control functionality in the TODA Live Desktop App. Control remote computers, switch between monitors, and share audio without interruption. Request control and move between screens with ease.

*Currently, Remote Control is not available on mobile or tablet devices.

Depending on your TODA Live environment, Remote Control may be enabled or disabled by default upon room creation. However, Hosts have the flexibility to enable or disable this feature by accessing the Default Screen Share Settings widget in the Admin Control Panel and toggling the Remote Control option on or off .

Requirements

  • TODA Live Desktop App (Version 24.4.4 and above) - Download the App!
  • Grant Remote Control permissions (macOS Devices).

Learn More About > Enabling Remote Control

NOTE: To Request Control, the user sharing their screen must be using the TODA Live App. However, users requesting control may use a browser or the TODA Live App; they are not required to have a TODA Live account.

* Remote Control access is limited to one user at a time

Feature Guide

The instructions below will detail how to use the Remote Control feature. To enhance clarity, please refer to the following references for "User 1" and "User 2".

User 2: User Requesting Control

  1. Starting in a TODA Live room, you (User 1) will click the Share Screen icon.

  1.  Within the modal, select the Screen(s) you wish to share, and make any additional adjustments within Advanced Settings.

NOTE: User 1 must select the ‘Screen Share’ tab to use remote control.

  2. Click the Share button.

  • The selected screen(s) will be presented to the room.

  1. Now, User 2 can use their cursor to hover over a shared screen to reveal and click the Tile Menu.

  1. Select Request Control.

  • User 1 will be prompted to approve requests for remote access from participants.

  1. Once the request is accepted, User 2 will gain control of the shared screen(s), by utilizing their mouse and keyboard.

TODA TIP: If User 1 has shared multiple screens, User 2 can switch between them from the top bar.

  1. To end the connection, either user can:

A. Click the Stop button. This action can be performed at any time during the session.

            OR

B. Press the Escape key on your keyboard two times in a row.

That's it! You are now able to seamlessly control another user’s screen(s) during a TODA Live Session.

Known Limitations: Remote Control

  • Supported Devices: Currently, Remote Control is only supported on desktops. Mobile and tablet devices are not supported at this time.
  • Windows Visibility: If you're sharing a screen with the TODA Live window open, it may disappear from view. However, you will still hear participants from the room. To interact with the room or view presentations, move the TODA Live window to another screen before sharing.
  • Windows Admin Permissions: Due to Windows security constraints, Admin access may be required to use Remote Control.
  • macOS Menu Bar: During screen sharing on MacOS, the menu bar may auto-hide when presenting the color frame around the controlled screen.
  • Dynamic Monitor Configuration: Changing monitor configurations in OS settings (ie. unplugging monitors or adjusting display layouts), is not supported during a remote desktop session.
  • Secondary Screen Windows: If the user sharing their screen moves the TODA Live window from a secondary screen, clicking on the minimize or maximize buttons may cause the controls to freeze for the remote user.
